Mother’s weekend was filled with fun and laughter. My sister who lives in Raleigh NC arrived on Friday and joined my Mom, my youngest sister and I for a weekend of thrifting, wine tasting and a family feast.
Late Saturday, my sister’s and my niece Brooklynn spent the evening baking. We prepared a couple of new recipes my sister Roxann selected – carrot loaf and shrimp and tomato pasta. My youngest sister Renee and her daughter Brooklyn selected a few tried and true additions – upside down pineapple cake and some brownie pops dipped in vanilla chocolate! The final menu included: shrimp and tomato pasta, garlic bread, strawberry and spinach salad, pineapple upside down cake and last but not least….Brooklynn’s brownie pops.
We went with an elegant theme for the decorations – using pink roses and greenery I picked from the garden and a set of vintage fine china and silverware. I think, with the exception of the carrot loaf (which didn’t make it due to a lack of water LOL) it was perfect.
Best of all….we made some memories and that is what it’s really all about!
